Dholera International Airport to open in three to four months

Dholera International Airport is set to become operational within the next three to four months, Union Civil Aviation Minister Rammohan Naidu Kinjarapu said on Tuesday after reviewing the progress of the greenfield project in Gujarat.

The minister said nearly 80% of the overall construction has been completed and around 75% of the work on the terminal building is finished.

While the Air Traffic Control (ATC) tower, runway, taxiway and other key infrastructure have been completed.

To support the rapidly expanding industrial ecosystem at Dholera, a dedicated 2,500 sq m cargo terminal is being developed. The airport will also feature a 25,000 sq m passenger terminal with the capacity to handle 20 lakh passengers annually, ensuring seamless passenger movement.

Speaking during his visit, Kinjarapu also said the investigation report into the Ahmedabad Air India plane crash would be released soon, adding that the probe was in its final stages.

“The report should come out as quickly as possible, but it is far more important that the absolute truth about how and why the accident occurred comes to light,” he said.

The minister said the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB), which is conducting the probe, is fully competent and carrying out the investigation in a transparent manner.
