Ahmedabad Dholera Expressway: 80% work has been completed, when is it likely to open?

According to the information received, after the complete construction of this expressway, the time taken to travel between these two cities will be reduced to just 40 to 45 minutes.

Like the Greenfield Airport, the Ahmedabad Dholera Expressway will also be a Greenfield Expressway. Its construction has now reached its final stage and if the claims made in the media reports are to be believed, the Union Road Transport Ministry has also set a deadline for its completion.

What is the length? 

According to the information received from the report of Desh Gujarat, the total length of the Ahmedabad Dholera Expressway is about 109 km. The construction work of this expressway is about 80 percent complete. With the completion of the construction of this expressway, the time taken to travel between Ahmedabad and Smart City Dholera will be reduced to just 40 to 45 minutes. This expressway will connect Sardar Patel Ring Road of Ahmedabad to the country's first Greenfield Smart City Dholera. 

It is said that the construction of this expressway, which started from Ahmedabad, is about to be completed on SP Ring Road near Diamond Interchange. One side of this expressway has also been opened for traffic movement, while the other part is still closed. It is expected that it can be opened in the beginning of the year 2025.

How much is the cost? 

According to the information received from the media report, the cost of building the Ahmedabad-Dholera Expressway is about ₹ 4,373 crore. It is said that a 5 km long stretch of this expressway at the SP Ring Road Interchange has been completely ready. The road alignment towards Dholera SIR has also been completed and the first layer of black stones has also been laid. It is said that at present this expressway is being prepared 8 lanes wide, but if necessary, it can also be made 12 lanes wide in the future. 

At present, a rail overbridge is being constructed from steel, which is almost ready. The next important stop of this expressway will be Pipli Junction, which will connect to Dholera International Airport. Apart from this, the construction work of a 10 km long road from the airport interchange is currently going on. After this, the next interchange will be built, which will connect Dholera Smart City.

It is said that the work of building the expressway near Pipli Junction is almost complete. A speed limit signboard has also been installed here, in which the speed limit has been set at 120 km/h for cars and 80 km/h for commercial vehicles. The 109 km long Ahmedabad-Dholera Expressway will end at the Adhelai interchange. This will be the starting point for vehicles coming from Bhavnagar. It is said that this interchange is completely ready and vehicles are also moving through it. Work is going on to install streetlights here. 

This interchange will connect the expressway to the old highway which people currently use to travel from Ahmedabad to Dholera and 25 km further to Bhavnagar. According to media reports, only about 20 percent of the work of this expressway is left and 80 percent of the work has been completed. It is expected that it can be opened in early 2025.
